This game is part 1 of 4 of the experimental game design prototype series where each week we make a new game around a new theme. This week's theme is to make a game inspired by the classic Game & Watch games. This was a learning experience for how to work around limitations and use them to your advantage design wise. The Game & Watch games work around a very limited color palette and most notable, the fact that 2 sprites cannot exist on the same position ever. This limitation was the primary inspiration for the invisible monster in the game. The challenge was to elicit stress in the player using minimal audio and visuals which was successfully achieved using lamps and a simple beeping sound that rapidly starts playing the closer the monster is to the player. The game was perceived very well during playtests and was a valuable learning experience.
You play as a little girl trapped in house that is haunted by ghost. Your goal is to complete the ritual and exorcise the ghost byfinding the 3 key items hidden around the house. Meanwhile, the ghost will be roaming the house looking for you.
You complete the ritual by bringing all 3 key items back to the starting room.
